Do you need a visa for Vietnam?

For a short tourist trip, many travelers only need a visa-free entry stamp. If you need a longer stay, repeated entry or a fixed entry document before travel, Vietnam e-visa is usually the safer route.

Border practice and airline requirements can change, so check nationality, passport validity, tickets, arrival airport and planned exit date before travel.

Visa-free entry stamp

Visa-free entry means you do not apply for a consular visa in advance: the entry stamp is placed at the border. The allowed stay depends on nationality and current agreements.

  • 45 days Selected nationalities listed by official Vietnam tourism guidance. Check the current country list before booking travel.
  • 30 days Several countries, including Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, have separate visa-free arrangements. Check the latest terms before buying tickets.
  • When e-visa is needed Choose e-visa if you want to stay up to 90 days, need re-entry or are not covered by visa-free entry.

Vietnam e-visa for up to 90 days

Vietnam e-visa is applied for online before travel through the official Immigration portal. It is available to citizens of all countries and territories, can be single or multiple entry and can be issued for up to 90 days.

Single Entry

USD 25. One entry only: after leaving Vietnam, you need a new valid basis to enter again.

Multiple Entry

USD 50. Multiple exits and entries are allowed within the e-visa validity period.

Processing time

The official portal states 3 working days, but keep extra time for form errors, holidays and manual checks.

Visa run: when your stay is ending

When your permitted stay is ending, plan a legal route in advance: leave Vietnam and re-enter visa-free or with a new e-visa. The best route depends on city, budget and available flights or buses.

Do not treat in-country extension as guaranteed. It depends on your legal basis, current practice and the specific case.

How Viet Fast Track helps

  1. We check nationality, trip duration and Vietnam airport.
  2. We explain when a stamp is enough and when e-visa is safer.
  3. We connect the visa scenario with arrival, fast track, meet & assist and onward route.
  4. A manager confirms details and payment after checking the request.

Important before travel

This page helps prepare your trip but does not replace decisions by border control, consulates, airlines or the official e-visa portal. Check rules for your travel date before paying for tickets.
